Hello, I'm Rich Brown

Sharing the perspective of a liberal Gen X techie.

I’m a tech executive, science & technology evangelist, writer, traveler and hobbyist photographer. I help people and companies build strategy and solve complex technology problems. I’m also an expert at building highly performing tech organizations.

In my free time, I write about business, leadership, lifestyle and life. I’m currently based in Los Angeles, California, and my preferred pronouns are He/Him.

Life is a journey. Enjoy the trip!

Aim for the sky, but move slowly, enjoying every step along the way. It is all those little steps that make the journey complete.

Evolution of Thought & Perspective

A New Chapter Begins.

So I decided to complete a site redesign on the richbrown.io site in my spare time over the past few weeks. Why, you might ask, was that necessary? It wasn’t really, it was just something I felt like doing to give myself a new start toward a side project. Over the past few years, since I created a new personal […]

Expanding upon the Rainbow Pride Flag

Let’s be honest. Can we really have too much pride? I’ve often bucked at the thought of changing the pride flag based on my “old” ideas of a need for historical preservation but the reality is that times are changing. People are changing. Attitudes are changing. As a result, we can celebrate history while at the same time evolving our […]

Life with Animals

While there are some days that really test my patience, I can’t imaging living life without animals. I’ve had dogs in my life since I was a child and today I have 2 white shepherds and a border collie. The house is full of barking, growling, and little feet constantly running around but without this, it would be a dull […]

Diversity is Important

I shot this photo back in 2013 at the Los Angeles Pride Festival. I don’t know why, but I love taking photos of people when they are facing the other direction. Partly because I feel like I’m capturing their moment for a brief second, partly because I still get intimidated taking photos of random people on the street. When I […]

Downtown Chicago

I lived in Chicago for a very brief 11 months when I moved the technology operations for my company from Los Angeles to Chicago. I was able to make one of my dreams come true which was to live in a high rise building. This shot is a composite image of 5 separate shots taken from the roof the Optima […]

Downtown Los Angeles at Night

I love finding interesting spots in Los Angeles to snap a long exposure. This shot has been replicated many times now by photographers all over the world. I took this photograph from the west side of the 110 freeway facing East towards the Downtown Los Angeles skyline on 4th Street. The light trail is a bus passing by as I […]

Oceanside Love

One day I was walking along the beach in Santa Monica and I saw this older couple who were holding hands, stop and sit down together on a bench facing the beach. She turned to him and started talking and the way they looked together was a really raw moment of real love. I stopped to snap this photo and […]

My Photography

I fell in love with photography as a young man when I received my first Pentax film camera from my grandfather. I'm extremely passionate about photographing the people and word around me.

LGBTQ+ Rights

LGBTQIA+ rights and people are under attack. There is no federal law that bans discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity. We must stand up and demand full acceptance and equal rights for our people and the LGBTQ+ community.

Black Lives Matter

It's our duty, as decent human beings, to help empower the lives of people of color in our communities! We need to speak up for the injustices and systematic racism that exists in this country and stand by our fellow black brothers and sisters to bring an end to inequality.

Logical thinking. Critical decisions. DIFFERENT perspectiveS.
